JUDGES’/CONTESTANTS’ REGULATIONS: Contestants, family, and associates, are NOT ALLOWED in any way to associate or be in contact with judges. This includes all communications before, during the contest, and breaks, because improper behavior and bad manners toward judges could cause a contestant to be disqualified—especially when scores are revealed after their performances. The same is true when winners are announced—this could result in a contestants’ score being nullified due to poor sportsmanship. Judges are human beings and errors can happen. They are not perfect—just professional judges. The primary thing to remember about the judges is THERE WILL NOT BE ANY BIAS OR PREJUDICIAL SCORING BY ANY JUDGE. In fact, if a judge has any type of personal relationship with any contestant, they must withdraw and another judge will take charge.
AUDIENCE: Proper socially acceptable behavior will be encouraged. IN NO WAY WILL APPLAUSE INFLUENCE THE JUDGING! Signs for proper behavior in the venues will be posted. Fairness, objectivity, and courtesy to ALL singers are necessary to allow for appropriate judging. All cell phones or other electronic devices must be turned off when contestants are singing. Side conversations must end. The common practice of annoying whistling, yelling, hollering, or screaming will not be tolerated in this very enjoyable but serious contest. In the event should out of control children be present, they must leave the area. Fountain Productions reserves the right to ask uncooperative attendees to depart.
ALL CATEGORY AND CONTESTANT ORDER OF APPEARANCE WILL BE RANDOMLY SELECTED
Judges will provide individual scores on hand-held white boards for the contestants to see and the judges will verbalize results to the audience, using the microphone in front of them. They may make brief comments on performances. Scores will be posted on Tuesday, August 28 at 10:00 A.M.
Any malfunction of a contestant’s CDG (disc) will cut short the performance, and depending on how much of the song is completed, the judges will determine how to score the contestant and their decision is final! If the KJ of Fountain Productions has made an error, the contestant will not be penalized, and they can resume the song they selected. NO ONE MAY START OVER OR USE A DIFFERENT DISC OR CHANGE TO ANOTHER SONG AFTER THE SONG BEGINS.
NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OF ANY KIND ARE ALLOWED OR CONSUMED ON STAGE!
The preliminary round will begin on Sunday at noon on August 26 and resume at noon Monday August 27, 2012. All contestants will sing one preliminary song. These maximum number of 60 contestants will compete in the semi-final round on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Twelve (12) total contestants will proceed to the final round on Wednesday the 29th of August. A variety “show of appreciation” will be a prelude to the karaoke finalist’s competition. Awards will follow.
The scores from the preliminary round and semi-final round will be added to each contestant’s scores to determine the top three (3) contestants in each category to advance to the final round on Wednesday, August 29th. Scores from the final night will be added to the previous rounds to determine the first, second, and third place winners of the final competition on Wednesday, August 29,2012. This will be a night to remember, because as a prelude to the finalists competing, A “SHOW OF APPRECIATION” will provide the audience with special entertainment!
